Article Abstract
Bilateral watershed infarcts after cardiac surgery are most reliably detected by diffusion-weighted imaging MRI and are associated with poor short-term outcome, compared with other infarct types. The mechanism may include an intraoperative drop in blood pressure from a patient?s baseline. These findings have implications for future clinical practice and research.
